So in this month’s Ebony, the feature story is “The 25 Coolest Black Men.” At CVS, I see a cover of Billy Dee (and if you have to ask his last name, I’m revoking your black woman card) and I get all excited. Then came my subscription – JAY-Z!!! Oh heavens! I don’t care if he’s one of the 50, but why did he have to be on MY cover! So, I’m buying one with Billy Dee and cutting his cover off and pasting it over mine.
Mary Mitchell of the Chicago Sun-Times takes another view of the story: http://www.suntimes.com/news/mitchell/1072214,CST-NWS-mitch24.article
Now I truly respect Ms. Mitchell, but I’m so annoyed that she got covers with Samuel L. Jackson, Muhummad Ali and Denzel Washington! She’s paid her dues and she has a right to get what she wants, but still…
Ebony’s website will allow me to purchase some or all of the issues. I just want the covers. But whatever it takes, right?
